Tej Singh Hazara

DEI Consultant

A passionate advocate for inclusion, deeply rooted in empathy, trust, and equity. Tej’s approach transcends emblematic representation by actively sourcing and deeply listening to a wide array of voices, drawing from their unique personal and professional lived experiences and needs.

His commitment to fostering Inclusive Leadership, Team Effectiveness, and Company Culture is not just theoretical but lived – reflected in his vulnerability and self-awareness, which he considers his ‘superpowers.’

With over two decades of experience as a trusted mentor and leader, Tej’s influence is evident in the success and growth of those he has guided and worked with.

Prior to joining consulting services, Tej was the Head of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion for firms such as IBM Canada, HSBC Bank Canada, and BMO. At IBM, he led the Global Emerging Issues Response Team – accountable for managing real-time global and regional DE&I issues – extending to cultural, regulatory and faith-based nuances – in both major and emerging markets. At HSBC he successfully designed, implemented and developed a DEI program, recognized for their commitment and advancement of the federally regulated Employment Equity Act.

The last five years have been in professional services, where Tej established and led trusted, successful Canadian regional partnerships with clients across multiple industries and stages of DEI maturity.

His work is personal: as the parent of a young adult with disabilities, Tej is driven to create environments where individuals and communities are empowered to reach their full potential.

Born in the United Kingdom, Tej immigrated to Canada with his spouse in 1996 where they now live raising their son and serves on the of a local not-for-profit sport and fitness organization focused on inclusivity for people with all abilities.
